Whether you fancy testing some exotic tilapia fish recipes or perhaps a delicious baked catfish recipe, you might think that baking fish is easy. It is indeed an uncomplicated way of cooking fish but there are a few tips and tricks you should know, to guarantee your baked fish recipes turn out great.

You can bake fish steaks, fillets, seafood, or whole fish. Baking cooks fish quickly at a high temperature.

Baking is a very popular method for cooking fish but a lot of people worry about their fish drying out in the oven. If you leave it cooking for even a few minutes too long, the fish might turn out dry. Fish contains natural oil and if you cook it too long, this oil is removed. You need to check the fish quite often while is cooking and know how long to cook it and at what temperature. Also, remember that fish continues to cook a bit more after you have taken it out of the oven.

Choosing and Preparing Fish for Baked Fish Recipes

When you buy a fish, check the eyes are clear, bright, and slightly protruded and the gills are pink or red. If the eyes are sunken, cloudy, or pink and the gills are gray, the fish is stale.

No matter whether you are shopping for fish for tilapia fish recipes, a spicy baked catfish dish, or something else, the same rules apply. The fresher the fish, the more successful your fish recipes will be.

You need to ensure the fish is properly defrosted to get the very best results from your fish recipe. Frozen fish has the same nutritional value as fresh fish and will keep in the freezer for weeks or even months, depending what kind of fish it is. To defrost fish, leave it on the lower shelves of the refrigerator for between 8 and 12 hours.

If you want the fish to be defrosted sooner, you can place it in cold water and add 3 to 4 tablespoons of salt. Then it will defrost in a couple of hours. Defrosted or fresh fish in the refrigerator should be used within 24 hours for the best fish recipe results.

Depending on what kind of baked fish recipe you are making, you might want to marinate the fish fillets in salt and lemon before cooking for firmer flesh, a fresh taste and to make it easier to handle. You can also soak your fish in water with vinegar before baking, to make it sweeter, more tender and hold its shape better.

Baked Fish Recipes - Perfect Every Time

Fish contains natural fish oils so you do not need to add fat or oil before baking if you do not want to. There are plenty of baked tilapia recipes, for example, which call for thinly sliced vegetables or seasoned breadcrumbs on top of the fish, to keep it juicy throughout cooking. Another tip is to brush a small amount of butter or oil on top of the fish before baking it.

Fish usually needs to be baked for 10 minutes for every inch of its thickness. Unless the fish is less than inch thick, it will need to be turned halfway through the cooking time. Most baked recipes call for a cooking temperature of about 450F.

Cooking times also vary depending on the density of the fish. While cooking fish, tuck any thin ends underneath so it cooks evenly. The fish is done when it is opaque all the way through, when it is 145F in the center, or when you can easily flake the flesh at its thickest point with a fork.

To stop fish from sticking to the baking dish and breaking up when you are trying to get it out, you can bake fish on a bed of onions, celery, or both. This also adds extra flavor to your baked fish recipe.

You can bake whole fish, fish fillets or steaks and seafood in the oven. Baking fish cooks it quickly at a high temperature.

Selecting and Preparing Fish for Baked Fish Recipes

When you purchase a fish, there are a few things to look out for here are just a few. The gills should be red or pink and the eyes should appear bright, clear and be slightly protruding. If the gills are gray and the eyes are pink, cloudy, or sunken, it is stale and you should choose a different fish.

Whether you are shopping for fish for a tasty baked cod dish or delicious tilapia fish recipes, the same rules apply. If the fish is very fresh, your recipe will turn out better.

In order to get the best results from your baked fish recipes, you need to make sure the fish is defrosted properly. Frozen fish is just as nutritious as fresh fish and keeps in the freezer for weeks or even months, depending on the fish. You should defrost the fish on the lower shelves of the refrigerator for 8 to 12 hours.

If you need it quicker than that, you can submerge it in cold water with 3 or 4 tablespoons of salt. This takes a couple of hours. If you have defrosted fish or fresh fish in the refrigerator, use it within 24 hours for the best results.

If you soak the fish in water with a little vinegar before baking it, it will turn out to be sweeter, more tender and hold its shape better. Another tip is to marinate the fish fillets in salt and lemon before baking. This makes them easier to handle and gives a fresh taste and firmer flesh.

Baked Fish Recipes - Perfect Every Time

Because fish contains natural oils, it is not compulsory to add oil or fat before baking. To ensure the fish stays moist, you might like to brush a little oil or butter on top of it before cooking or top the fish with seasoned breadcrumbs or thinly sliced vegetables. There are many tilapia fish recipes, which make use of vegetables or breadcrumbs to add flavor and texture.

When baking fish recipes, the general rule is to bake the fish for 10 minutes per inch of its thickness. Most baked fish recipes call for a temperature of 450C. You will need to turn the fish halfway through its cooking time unless it is less than an inch thick.

To make sure fillets cook evenly, tuck any thin ends underneath. Cooking times can be affected by the density of your fish. You know the fish is ready when it is 145F internally, when the flesh is opaque all the way through or when you can flake it easily with a fork at its thickest point.

To stop fish sticking to the baking dish, you can place it on a bed of onions, celery, or both. This makes the fish stay in one piece when removing it from the baking dish and gives it some extra flavor.

There has been much about bass fishing that excites the average angler. The competition, prizes, honor, and entertainment the sport provides is just too much to ignore. But before one can jump into the sport, there are quite a few guidelines to keep in mind. After all, a highly competitive sport like bass fishing warrants a sense of expertise- and this doesn't always come with finding things out on one's own.

An important topic to address is bait- as this is vital in catching the bass fish in the first place. Bait can range in compositions, which makes finding the right bait for bass a little tough. It doesn't take long for anglers to find spectacular bait, but a word to the wise is to keep changing types as much as possible. Using a wide range of types of bait will enable fisherman to gain experience in knowing when to use one bait over another- an invaluable skill to have.

A rather boring aspect of bass fishing is the fact that anglers may have to wait in a particular location for hours on end without a single catch. While this may not be terribly exciting, it is recommended that anglers stay in the spot for a couple of hours to get a good idea on the credibility of the location. Time of day, weather, and other factors will also take effect here- so never give up on a particular location until it is tested over a long term basis.

Technology has created many ways for the common angler to catch bass in easier ways. But keep in mind that every piece of technology available may not be good for the "true" sport of bass fishing- and many are banned in competition. The best route to go in this scenario is to speak with competition officials about what is allowed and what isn't. After this is found out, one should only practice with allowed devices, so as to get more experience with approved devices and to steer clear of devices deemed as "cheating."

An important aspect of bass fishing that most ignore is the rules that conservation departments put out for anglers. There are commonly limits to amounts of fish, size, and weights of bass fish that can be caught in a day. Size and weight restrictions are often minimal, which help to give younger bass fish a chance to grow and procreate. But there are no limits on excess weight- and many have tried to beat the 22 pound record that has been set for a caught bass fish.

Fishing equipment may be expensive at times, but luckily there isn't a lot of equipment for anglers to purchase. Emphasis should not be placed on equipment, but rather experience. Only through proper experience can anglers hope to advance in the ranks and make an impact in competitions.

Closing Comments

There are many aspects to consider in bass fishing- but the real tips and guidelines will be learned while out on the waters. If at all possible, try to gain more information from friends and family members. If there is no one else to turn to, consulting a fishing club or a conservationist will turn up more answers for aspiring bass anglers.

Basa is a farm-raised fresh water fish. Basa fish is part of the catfish family. One of the benefits of basa fish it the lack of smell. Unlike other fishes you will not get that fishy smell after preparing basa fish. An even better benefit though is the delicate and mild taste.

Mekong River Delta in Vietnam and Chao Phraya basin are the native areas of the basa fish. Basa fish are known to be from large rivers, in rapids and in deep, slower reaches. The American and European food market has the latest years taken an interest in the basa fish.

Basa fish is typically grilled much like we grill salmon. I usually give it a brush with some butter. You can use garlic butter if you want to. Spice up the basa fish with some white pepper or other spices as well to give it extra taste. You can add lemon and lime at the end to give it some extra flavor.

After you have spiced it up and prepared it for the grill you should pack it in aluminum foil. Just take a sheet of aluminum foil and wrap it around the basa fish filet. You are now ready to grill the basa fish.

When it comes to how long you are supposed to grill the basa fish, people have different opinions. It all depend on how well grilled you want it to be. I typically grill on each side for 10 to 15 minutes or until it flakes. There is no need to turn the fish around all the time. Lay it on one side for 10 minutes and then turn it around for an aditional 10 minutes.

You now know how to grill basa fish. All you need to do now is to locate a supermarket who sells them and get started on your own.

by Rick London

I am old now and reaching minnowpause, a good many folks think I'm mentally eel. My theory though is that I've haddock with life, not unlike Salmon Rushdie or Marlin Brando. Mahi oh mahi. Since I've always marched to a different drummer, you know, or sang like Tuna Turner. I live down on squid roe. and been a shad bit egocentric, people have tried desperately to save my sole. Holy mackerel, if I could count the times. Those bassturds. They just perch up on their high seahorse and talk down to me as if I'm pond scum. So what's it all about, Algae? You may think I'm shellfish and cruel but read between the lines.

For awhile I tried corporate America and I played a rather decent upwardly-mobile guppy. I made a great deal of money but always felt crappie. You may grunter at my humor but who are you to judge? Take your fathead elsewhere. I'm not just another John Dory writer, you know.

But it didn't take long before I recognized I was swimming with the sharks and swam back to shore. Nay, I was no angelfish, that is for sure, but I was sturdy as a rockfish. Like othe baby boomer, I was striving to be an upwardly mobile guppy. I am certain a lot of my problems is that I listened to too many rock bands in my youth and don't follow direction well due to my being hard of herring. I do have faith; I'm not one of those agnostic fish-types who PONDers the very existence of Cod.

A lox of times I would start a project early in the yearling, and never finish it. This only served to bait the public into calling me a sucker(fish) or even worse!! I can stand the heat. Nobody can lure me unless I let them. I know how to take care of myself. I left home at age 15 and was an urchin ever since. The streets are hard for a fighting fish but I made it after all. Many times I was on the bream of success and blew it just like any blowfish would do. One time I even trout for major league football (no kidding) during the USA league. They laughed me off the field thinking I was some kind of clownfish.

There are plenty of fish in the sea. If one does not want to know me is "that's their net loss". It's my own fish philosophy; well I actually plagiarized it from decarp "I swim therefore I am wet." And to them I simply say "Caviar Emptor", and yes, even Carp Diem (as obvious a fish pun as it may be...but I digress into deeper waters).... But in my own way, the world is my oyster and nobody can take that away from me. I continue to have a porpoise in life and really, isn't that what counts? I could have turned out evil like Jack The Flipper but noo. I became an outstanding citizen nevertheless. They will never make me walk the plankton. Some of my story may be sardinonic but that is the way it goes. It helps me cope through the rough seas. If they think I'm some kind of shrimpleton, they are just being crabby in my humble opinion.

And so the world evolves. And I will think of a new philosophy as soon as I have time to mullet over. But I will. Because I'm the reel thing more real to my mom than Maggie was to ROD Stewart. You can count on that. I may fail a lot but when I throw a strike, no catfish hunter has a thing on me. So when I change no neon tetra light is going to go off. It will be a gradual thing. And I'm not sea lion either. I am truthful; hook line and thinker. This is no moray-eel issue. It's simply another bottom-feeder situation.

One Final Note: No fish were injured and killed during the writing of this article; at least not porpoisly.

No matter what anyone says, seafood is healthy and should be a part of everyone's diet. Seafood in general is high in nutrients and vitamins, which no other food group can provide. However, you have to be careful about where you get your fish from. Local waters, like lakes and rivers, can be contaminated and your fish could contain chemicals like mercury or PCBs. The easiest way to obtain a healthy serving of fish is to eat at your local restaurant or do some online shopping. Online vendors, located in coastal regions, can usually guarantee overnight shipping and freshness you cannot get from anywhere else.

The biochemistry and the lifestyle of fish are why seafood is healthy. Fish are constantly in motion in order to breathe. Consequently, their entire body and, in particular, the tasty filets that you eat, are composed on lean muscle. Compare the sleek lines of a fish with the chubby, unattractive form of a cow.

A side benefit to eating healthy seafood is that it is so delicious and simple to prepare. Unlike unpleasant "healthy" choices like algae goo and grass juice, seafood tastes wonderful. You can't go wrong preparing fish dishes. The simplest way to prepare salmon, for example, is to rub it with some spice - simply salt and pepper will do - and pan fry it in a quarter-sized drop of olive oil. 6 minutes on the skin side first, then 3 to 4 minutes on the flesh side should cook an average-sized salmon fillet through.

Serve it with sautee'd or steamed vegetables, and you've got a healthy and filling meal. Lobster meat can by steamed by boiling lobsters in the shells, but dealing with fresh live lobster can be unnerving, and the best addition to lobster is drawn butter - not as healthy as pan seared salmon.

If you don't want to serve greasy hamburgers to your guests at an outdoor grill party, you can opt for grill tuna steaks. They are both healthy and they look classier too as compared to burgers. They look even more attractive when presented on nice plates and garnished colorfully with grated carrots and lemon wedge. The method of preparation is same as that of hamburgers and everyone present will agree that seafood is healthy.

The healthful features of seafood are the magical omega-3 fatty acids, found mostly in salmon, and reputed to clear up skin problems like acne, rosacea, and age lines.Fish is important for many near-vegetarians, who rely on fish for protein. These vegetarians are far healthier than those who eat no meat at all. Also "good" cholesterol and "good" fat, and a number of essential vitamins.

There are no two sides to this story. Fish is good for you and your health. Unless the fish comes from a polluted source, it contains no noxious elements. Fish is simple to prepare and does not require elaborate seasoning to bring out the best flavour. Your friends and associates will certainly be more impressed with a careful presentation of fish that of red meat or poultry. I am certainly going to eat fish today and I encourage you to do the same.

If you don not live close to the ocean, it can be frustrating to try and find fresh seafood. The good news is that you no longer have to worry about it. Just logon to the Internet and find a reputable online seafood vendor that offers overnight delivery. You can now get fresh seafood from the ocean straight to your door. Most vendors use either Fedex or UPS to ship their seafood overnight. Quality Fresh seafood is the premier online vendor for fresh seafood. Give them a try!

It can be relatively difficult to enjoy the alluring taste of fresh lobster. Anyone who really loves their fresh seafood will agree that succulent fresh Maine lobsters tease the palate. Food fanatics everywhere relish at the thought of a juicy lobster with melted butter. It isn't real easy to get fresh seafood if you live inland, away from the coastal regions.

It is really simple for people who live near the sea coast to get fresh seafood because all that they have to do is to take a ride to the sea coast or to a local supermarket. This may not be the case if somebody lives far away from sea coast. There is no need to fret because modern technologies have paved the way to obtain seafood overnight.

There are 2 great alternatives to get seafood overnight at your doorstep. With the advanced technologies such as internet and mobile phones, seafood vendors have become creative in providing quick and wonderful services to seafood lovers. They offer great options among seafood such as large lobster tails, jumbo lobster tails, jumbo shrimps, etc and ship them overnight all over the U.S.A.

Before placing a seafood order, get in touch with the vendor to find out the types of payment they accept, credit card, money order, bank transfer and how to pick the best, freshest seafood, etc. These things must be known prior to ordering. Then if all is satisfactory, place the order for overnight delivery.

Another good option is to take the help of internet and login to reputable online seafood vendor websites. This is the preferred option to get seafood overnight, as this addresses all of the issues found with the other option. One can checkout those wonderful, succulent jumbo lobster tails on their laptop screen, can take advantage of the special deals. One can even get delicious recipes of those tasty large lobster tails online.

Checking into what type of guarantee the online vendor has is important. It is often difficult when having anything as delicate as seafood shipped overnight, however you can always consider the above options. On top of a 100% satisfaction guarantee, it would be prudent to inquire about a money back guarantee also.

Most of the online seafood vendors provide 100% money guarantee and some vendors may provide frequent buyers benefit program where you can get wonderful discounts on your repeated purchases. Fresh seafood being shipped overnight to door steps all over USA; one can go ahead and enjoy the magic of seafood without any hesitation.

One of the best ways to identify if an online vendor is a good choice is to look at their customer feedback. Another thing you can do is just give them a call and see if they answer the phone. If they do, then ask some simple questions about where they get their lobster or how they ship them. Find out how long they have been in business as well. By asking all these questions, you can really weed out the fly by night companies and stick with the best!

Summer is a great period for entertaining, and a very fun way to entertain is to invite your friends and family over for a clambake. Lobster and clams cooked over a fire, some exotic drinks, brightly colored decorations and appropriate music make for a great time for everybody.

But, when the weather is not fine, or even when winter hits, why not hold a lobster clambake indoors? What a great way to bring the illusion of summer to a cold winter day! And it's a fun, easy and healthy way of entertainment.

Instead of just any old lobster clambake, consider having a super deluxe lobster clambake, which is sure to please a variety of tastes. For your indoor clambake, purchase some fresh lobster, clams, shrimp, mussels, and maybe even some crab. You might also want to include some lobster bisque or clam chowder on the menu, in addition to corn on the cob and roasted potatoes.

In addition to the food for your super deluxe lobster clambake, you will want to have a good supply of lobster bibs on hand, claw crackers, lots and lots of napkins, and a good supply of pre-moistened towlettes. Seafood is delicious but it can be very messy!

Lobster stock pot is the only special equipment required to complete the cooking of lobster. A variety of models are available in the market and some incorporate a steamer rack and basket. Cooking supply stores and Internet are the places one should look for. As you search the net for your lobster stock pot , you should do an extra search for an indoor clambake recipe that sounds good.

To make planning and preparing for you party even easier, there are many super deluxe lobster clambake kits available. They can easily be found by searching the Internet. Many of the kits contain everything you need, including wetnaps, claw crackers and cloth napkins, in addition to the seafood itself. All you'll need to shop for are the vegetables and you'll be all set for the most popular party of the season.

So what is the next step with all of this? Well, to get your clambake ordered of course! The best place to research almost anything is the Internet, the Super Deluxe clambake is no different. Enter that specific phrase into the search engines and then visit with the top two or three entries. Call them if necessary to get a feel for how they do business. Once you have accomplished this, order up your clambake and get ready to invite over some friends.
